Disinfectant Cleaners
Disinfectant cleaners clean and disinfect surfaces in a single step: desks, door handles, switches, sanitary fixtures, and other frequently touched equipment. Dual-action formulas save time because there is no need to clean and disinfect separately. Products are certified to EN standards and suitable for healthcare, food service, education, and office environments.

Disinfectant cleaners: cleaning and disinfection in one step
Disinfectant cleaners are dual-purpose products that remove surface soiling and destroy bacteria, viruses, and fungi in a single action. A surface disinfectant solution is mandatory in healthcare facilities, food production, public catering, and other environments where hygiene regulations require regular pathogen elimination. We stock professional disinfectant cleaners that meet EN 14476 and EN 13697 standards.
How surface disinfectants work
A surface disinfectant works through contact time — typically 1 to 5 minutes depending on the formula and target microorganisms. During this time the active substances (usually quaternary ammonium compounds or alcohol) destroy pathogen cell membranes. It is critical to keep the surface wet for the full stated contact time — wiping too early results in incomplete disinfection.
Concentrated disinfectant cleaners are diluted with water according to manufacturer instructions. Different dilution ratios are used for different tasks: light daily disinfection versus intensive disinfection after contamination events.
Where disinfectant cleaners are used
- Healthcare. hospitals, clinics, dental offices, nursing homes
- Food industry. production lines, work tables, cutting boards
- Public catering. restaurant kitchens, cafe tables, buffet areas
- Offices and public spaces. door handles, lift buttons, shared desks
Disinfectant cleaners in the cleaning system
Disinfectant cleaners are part of the cleaning products category. They are often used after primary cleaning with interior cleaners or degreasing agents when a surface needs both cleaning and disinfection in separate stages. In sanitary zones, disinfectant cleaners complement sanitary cleaners. Floor cleaners with a disinfecting component also belong to this product group.
Choosing the right disinfectant cleaner
When selecting a disinfectant cleaner, check which microorganisms it is effective against. EN 14476 certification confirms virucidal activity, while EN 13697 confirms bactericidal activity on surfaces. In the food industry, additional compliance with food contact zone regulations is required, meaning the surface does not need rinsing with water after disinfection.
Hand disinfection requires separate hand disinfection products with a different formula than surface disinfectants. Dispensers and holder systems for disinfection products are available in the dispensers and equipment section. When working with disinfectant cleaners, wearing protective clothing is recommended , particularly gloves, as prolonged contact with disinfectant solution can irritate the skin.
